Michael Sutton, DO, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where a passion for medicine took root early in life. Inspired by his father, a dedicated family physician in Claremore, he experienced the human side of medicine firsthand—riding along on house calls and witnessing the deep, trusting relationships built between doctor and patient. That early exposure to compassionate care was reinforced during his undergraduate years at Boston College, where he studied medical humanities with a focus on patient-physician relationships.
Dr. Sutton was drawn to gastroenterology because of the profound impact GI conditions can have on a person’s physical health and daily quality of life. He has seen this both professionally and personally, through family members dealing with conditions such as Crohn’s disease. The specialty offers a unique opportunity to build long-term relationships while helping patients manage complex issues and regain control of their lives.
As a general gastroenterologist, Dr. Sutton enjoys treating the full range of digestive conditions—from common concerns like heartburn and IBS to more complex diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. What he values most is forming strong, lasting relationships with his patients and helping them achieve a better quality of life.
To stay at the forefront of his field, he maintains active membership in the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and he regularly attends Digestive Disease Week to stay current with innovations and advancements in GI care.
Dr. Sutton is honored to be part of Adult Gastroenterology Associates, a group with a longstanding reputation for excellence across Tulsa and the surrounding region. His goal is to contribute to that legacy by expanding access to high-quality GI care while continuing to put patients at the center of everything he does.
Family life is at the heart of Dr. Sutton’s world. He and his wife, Annie, are proud parents to two daughters, Sylvia and Juliet. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, reading, and cheering on the OKC Thunder, Boston College Eagles, and Oklahoma Sooners. He’s also a devoted uncle who loves spending time with his extended family.
